Therapist

Amanda Velez, M.S.S.W., is a Marriage and Family Therapy Associate (MFTA) trained to utilize Exposure Response and Ritual Prevent (ERP) therapy for the treatment of OCD. In 2017, Amanda graduated from the University of Louisville with a Master of Science in Social Work and a Master’s Equivalency in Couple and Family Therapy. With over a year of specialized practice and post-graduate experience in the treatment of OCD and related anxiety disorders, Amanda’s treatment approach incorporates the influence of broader environmental systems within her evidence-based and individualized therapeutic practice.

Amanda utilizes systemic and strengths-based perspectives in addition to ERP to facilitate a deeper understanding of the self, the interplay between thought, emotion, and behavior, and the role these things play in the lives and relationships of children, adults, couples, and families. Amanda’s practice within the Louisville OCD Clinic includes children as young as 12 years old, as well as adults, couples and families living with OCD and Anxiety. When working with children and family systems, Amanda often utilizes Structural Family Therapy techniques to affect change in both children and the environmental factors which create and exacerbate life stressors.
